EMF Testing

EMF testing requires specialized EMF test meters to test all four different EMF types.

They include:

• Gauss meters to detect and measure the strength of AC magnetic fields.

• Body Voltage meter to measure the strength of an AC electric field being absorbed into the body. The Gigahertz Solutions NFA1000 meter can also be used to measure AC electric fields.

• RF (radio frequency) meters to measure the strength of RF radio frequency microwave radiation. There are a wide variety of RF meters which can range substantially by price.

• A dirty electricity meter to measure the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the wiring of a home or building structure. There are a variety of different types of meters and electronic equipment which can be used to measure the amount of electromagnetic interference. 

• Electrical clamp meter to measure net current on metal pipes and electrical lines.

Additional EMF test equipment may include a spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope.

Licensed electrical contractors check for faulty electrical wiring in a home and building structure that cause net current and harmful AC magnetic and AC electric fields, and can also cause fire.

EMF testing is part of the EMF evaluation process and is essential for gathering the data needed to provide recommendations and options for reducing or eliminating harmful EMF radiation.
